Nonprofit Website Program

A thoughtful path to a website worthy of your mission.

The Good Harbor Vista Nonprofit Website Program helps qualifying organizations receive an exceptional website—and the long-term professional stewardship needed to keep it dependable.

Is this program right for your organization?

Built for organizations serving their communities.

The program commonly serves community-based and mission-driven organizations that need a clearer, more credible, and more useful online presence.

Good Harbor Vista works exclusively with verified nonprofit organizations. Federal 501(c)(3) recognition is not required when nonprofit status can be verified through another authoritative source or appropriate documentation.

The Standard Program is designed for focused nonprofit websites with straightforward organizational and communication needs. Standard Program projects are generally organized around seven primary pages, but page count is a guideline—not an automatic cutoff. Overall complexity determines Standard Program fit. A simple additional page does not automatically make a project nonstandard, while a smaller website with complex functionality may require additional scope.

Every organization and project is considered individually. Mission alignment, overall complexity, readiness, timing, and Good Harbor Vista’s available capacity all help determine whether the program is the right fit.

  • Community nonprofits
  • Human services
  • Animal welfare organizations
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Arts organizations
  • Education organizations
  • Community foundations

Understanding the investment

Exceptional professional work, made more accessible.

A professionally designed nonprofit website through this program represents $10,000 in professional value.

For qualifying projects, the organization invests $2,500 and Good Harbor Vista provides the remaining $7,500 in in-kind professional services.

This structure allows Good Harbor Vista to provide meaningful professional value while asking each participating organization to make a real investment in the project and its success.

What your Good Harbor Vista website includes

A professionally managed website—and clear responsibility after launch.

The Standard Program brings strategy, content, design, development, launch, hosting, and ongoing technical care together in one professionally managed relationship.

Your website project

A focused, professionally built nonprofit website.

Your approved project is documented before production begins. Standard Program projects are generally organized around seven primary pages, but page count is a guideline—not an automatic cutoff. Overall complexity determines Standard Program fit. A simple additional page does not automatically make a project nonstandard, while a smaller website with complex functionality may require additional scope.

Services may include, as appropriate: discovery and intake analysis; sitemap and information architecture; content organization and original or refined website copy based on your information; visual direction and responsive WordPress design and development; forms, standard integrations, search foundations, analytics/search setup where appropriate, and accessibility-conscious practices; quality assurance, launch preparation, production launch, and transition into Website Stewardship.

Your website stewardship

Required care for the website after launch.

Website Stewardship is required for Standard Program websites. It includes Good Harbor Vista-managed hosting and ongoing technical care for $100 per month, billed monthly in advance.

The initial commitment is 12 months beginning at production launch. After that, Stewardship continues month-to-month with 30 days’ written notice.

Your domain remains yours

Ownership stays with your organization.

Your nonprofit retains ownership and control of its domain. The domain should ordinarily remain registered in an account owned or controlled by your organization.

Registration and renewal remain separate Client expenses. Moving the website to Good Harbor Vista-managed hosting does not transfer domain ownership or automatically require a registrar transfer.

Your email remains separate

Website hosting does not automatically move organizational email.

Your existing organizational email will normally remain with its current provider. Email subscriptions, mailbox charges, and account fees remain your organization’s responsibility.

Email migration or administration is not included in the Standard Program unless it is specifically reviewed, approved, and added to the project scope.

When a project needs additional scope

We identify it before additional work begins.

Some projects need more than the Standard Program. Examples may include e-commerce, memberships, learning systems, large directories, portals, databases, advanced search, multilingual implementation, custom applications or APIs, complex migration, extensive content entry, major photography or branding work, email migration, advanced infrastructure or security work, or specialized compliance reviews.

If additional scope is needed, Good Harbor Vista will explain it and obtain approval before undertaking the additional work.

Good Harbor Vista Website Stewardship

Protecting the website that supports your mission.

A website is an operational asset—not a one-time purchase.

Your website continues representing your organization long after launch. Required Website Stewardship keeps its hosting, updates, monitoring, maintenance, and ongoing technical care within one professionally managed environment.

Professional care behind the scenes.

  • Good Harbor Vista-managed website hosting and SSL
  • Scheduled backups and reasonable recovery capability
  • WordPress core, theme, and supported plugin updates
  • Security and uptime monitoring
  • Reasonable performance oversight
  • Routine technical support and maintenance
  • Ongoing care of the supported website environment

Monthly Website Stewardship

$100per month

Billed monthly in advance.

The initial commitment is 12 months beginning at production launch. Stewardship continues month-to-month after the initial term and may then be ended with 30 days’ written notice.

Stewardship covers the approved ongoing care of the supported website. New pages, redesign, new functionality, major content work, email administration, domain fees, paid third-party services, custom integrations, and specialized legal, regulatory, privacy, accessibility, or security work are outside standard Stewardship and may be scoped separately.

Care without lock-in

Professional stewardship with clear ownership.

Your organization retains ownership of its domain and eligible Client-owned content and materials. Good Harbor Vista manages the website hosting environment and ongoing technical care required for Standard Program websites.

Participation does not transfer ownership of your domain to Good Harbor Vista. Domain registration and organizational email remain separate services that are ordinarily controlled and paid for by your organization.

If Website Stewardship ends, the agreement provides for an orderly transition of eligible Client-owned website materials, subject to licensing, security, payment, and reasonable transition requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before you begin.

Every project is different, but these answers explain what participating organizations can generally expect.

View all Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the process take?

Timing depends on the approved scope, the readiness of your information and access, and how quickly reviews and approvals are completed. We establish a realistic project schedule before production begins.

Can we keep our domain?

Yes. Your organization retains ownership and control of its domain registration. Good Harbor Vista coordinates the technical connection needed for launch, but managed website hosting does not transfer domain ownership or automatically require a registrar transfer.

Can we keep our email?

Yes, in most cases your organizational email remains with its current provider. Website hosting and email are separate services, and moving the website does not automatically move or alter email. Email subscriptions and mailbox charges remain your organization’s responsibility.

Who hosts our website?

Good Harbor Vista-managed website hosting is required for Standard Nonprofit Website Program websites and is included in Website Stewardship. An unusual external-hosting arrangement is not a normal Program option and would require separate written approval.

What does the $2,500 project include?

The Standard Program includes the approved strategy, sitemap, content support, visual direction, responsive WordPress design and development, forms and standard integrations, quality assurance, launch preparation, launch, and Stewardship handoff documented for your project. The $2,500 investment is paid in two installments: $1,250 at agreement and $1,250 after final website approval and before production launch.

What does the $100/month Website Stewardship include?

Website Stewardship includes Good Harbor Vista-managed hosting and SSL, scheduled backups and reasonable recovery capability, supported WordPress updates, security and uptime monitoring, reasonable performance oversight, routine technical support and maintenance, and ongoing care of the supported website.

Why is Website Stewardship required?

Stewardship keeps responsibility for hosting, security, updates, backups, monitoring, maintenance, and technical care in one professional system. That continuity helps protect the website and the mission it supports.

Will our current website content be migrated?

We review your existing content and identify what should be retained, revised, reorganized, or retired. The content included in migration is documented in the approved project scope. Complex migration or extensive content entry may require additional scope.

Can staff update the website?

Appropriate staff access and update responsibilities are established for each organization. Changes must remain within the supported environment and agreed responsibilities so the website’s security and reliability can be protected.

Can additional features be added later?

Often, yes. Additional pages, new functionality, major content work, custom integrations, and future expansions can be evaluated and scoped separately so the website can evolve responsibly.

What if our website needs something outside the Standard Program?

We will explain the additional requirements before undertaking the work. Depending on complexity, the project may need a separate scope, additional fee, technical plan, or approved nonstandard arrangement.

What happens after launch?

Good Harbor Vista verifies the live website and begins required Website Stewardship. Your organization receives clear guidance about access, support, responsibilities, and how to request future work. The initial Stewardship commitment is 12 months beginning at production launch, followed by month-to-month service with 30 days’ written notice.
